PALs is a mentoring program for Allen ISD at-risk students grades 8 -12 in Allen, Texas. PAL student members are assigned as individual peer mentors to a targeted child (PALee) within the district. Through one-on-one mentoring, the program teaches decision-making skills specifically how to make good, informed and responsible decisions. In addition, PALs provides peer-to-peer encouragement through real life demonstration of leadership. Members of PALs are required to complete a set number of service hours in the community every six weeks. PALs also host activities and events at their respective schools supporting various community and school efforts. All PAL members undergo a rigorous interview process and are required to sign contracts to remain drug free, maintain passing grades in all classes and display a positive role model image both in and out of school.
